Tá Dún na nGall an-tabhachtach, i gcónaí i gcroí mo chuid scríbhneoireachta
Welcome to Brí Carr Songs and Stories…
Tá dúil mór agam i gcúrsaí ceoil, cultúr, oidhreacht, Gaeilge, scéalta, amhránaíocht, teaghlaigh is go háirithe, mo chontae féin, Dún na nGall.
Deirtear go bpéintealaíonn pictiúr míle focal, agus anseo i dTír Chonaill, táimid millte le haghaidh rogha le féasta de radharcra iontacha, nadúrtha, inár dtimpeall, agus na hamhráin is na Brí scéalta le cloisteáil beo sna cnoic, sléibhte is cladaigh Dhún na nGall, iad uilig chomh speisialta mar phictiúirí.
Tá Dún na nGall an-tabhachtach i mo shaol féin, i gcónaí i gcroílár mo chuid scríbhneoireachta, tá an tionchar sin le feiceáil san amhrán ‘Fréamhacha’ ó m’albam úr a leanas:
‘If home is where the heart is, the heart can’t beat alone, it’s the family around us who love and surround us with faith and peace and hope.
If home is where the heart is, the heart’s not built of stone, It’s not the rock in the ground, it’s the feeling that’s found when you make your heart your home. H. O. M. E – home’.
Pé áit a théann tú, bíonn tú fréamhaithe i gceantar dúchas s’agat féin, iompraíonn tú do chuid scéaltaí agus ceoltaí leat. Mar ardán de mo shaothar ceoil agus scríbhneoireacht, tá súil agam go léiríonn mo shuíomh úr na téamaí sin.

Welcome to Brí Carr Songs and Stories…
Hailing from the beautiful county of Donegal, I am passionate about music, culture, heritage, Irish, stories, songs and family.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, in Donegal, we are spoiled for choice with a feast of stunning, picturesque and panoramic scenes, so naturally, the songs and stories bouncing off our hills, rocks, glens and seashores are bountiful, beautiful and unique as those pictures.
The CEO and MC of PanCeltic Song Contest Ireland, Ms. Bríd deRóiste, introduced my entry in my fifth National Song Contest Final in Carlow one week before Lockdown 2020 with an anecdote about my obsession with home and Donegal. I thought about her words, and agree whole-heartedly that this theme is evident in my writing, whether in Gaeilge or English, song or story, poem or video, but the only words I would change in that introduction would be ‘obsession with’. I consider it more my ‘grounding in’.
Donegal is my home. The lyrics in the chorus of my new songs from my ‘Roots/Fréachmhacha’ album, ‘H.O.M.E’, capture the whole essence of why this is so important to me.
‘If home is where the heart is, the heart can’t beat alone, it’s the family around us who love and surround us with faith and peace and hope.
If home is where the heart is, the heart’s not built of stone, It’s not the rock in the ground, it’s the feeling that’s found when you make your heart your home. H. O. M. E – home’.
Wherever you go, you are rooted in your own homeland, carrying your stories and music with you. As a platform of my music and writing work, I hope my new site reflects those themes.
